Private Party or Dealer: Private Party. Model Page: Category. This 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT was built on February 1, 1965 finished in Rosso Alfa over a Skai Grigio interior and was first sold in Newark, New Jersey. It was purchased by the seller 23 years ago and sat for about two decades before a restoration was commissioned from Johnny’s Custom in Colorado.
Work was completed on May 10, 2018 and included metal repairs, a repaint, suspension and driveline refurbishments, a refreshed interior, and much more as described below. The replacement 2.0-liter twin-cam four features dual Webers and is paired with the factory 5-speed manual gearbox. Handling modifications from Alfaholics were also added along with 15″ Rota wheels and a number of brake upgrades. This Alfa is now being offered with around $25k of restoration-related invoices, photos documenting the process, a Certificato di Origine, the original engine, refinished factory wheels, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name. The car was disassembled and soda-blasted during the restoration, and after metalwork was completed the body received two coats of Standox bare-metal sealer. Urethane primer was then sprayed on and blocked out.
The engine bay, trunk, fender wells, and floor pan were coated in a 2-part urethane material tinted to match the paint. The paint itself is Standox single-stage urethane, and four coats were applied. New weather stripping was installed along with new door seals, window gaskets, window felts, rear pop-out window hinges, and other rubber components as needed. The seller states that the Talbot Berlin side-view mirror is original, though the 3-piece rear bumper is from a later GTV.
The correct single-piece front bumper is included with the sale. Metal trim was hand-polished, and additional photos of the finished product are shown in the 160+ gallery below. Per the seller, the glass is believed to be original aside from the windshield. 15×7″ Rota wheels are mounted with 195/55 BFGoodrich g-Force tires. The original 15″ wheels are also included as shown in the gallery, and were soda-blasted and refinished with Quicksilver Imron urethane paint before being fitted with 165/15 series rubber. Stainless brake lines were installed in addition to a new master cylinder and reservoir from Alfaholics. Braking is handled by the original Dunlop system with new pads and upgraded standard-thread studs.
The seller elected to have the cabin re-trimmed in non-original red leatherette with black piping. The suspension system utilizes an Alfaholics track/mild-race blue handling kit with Koni sport shocks and a 28mm anti-roll bar with Alfaholics drop links. Urethane bushings were also fitted along with new spring cups and rubber seats. Additional underside images can be found in the gallery below. Interested parties are encouraged to look through the in-process restoration photos provided by the seller. Photo documentation of the entire process will also accompany the sale.
An Alfa certificate of origin lists the chassis number, production and dispatch dates, and the original color combination. Additional videos featuring this car can be viewed below: Photo Gallery.
